Wow! I can't believe that it has been a month since my last (first) blog. Time is definitely moving at full speed. I want to start by thanking everyone for all of the support last month with the release of my first blog. I was considerably nervous about releasing it but received nothing but positivity from everyone, so from the bottom of my heart ... thank you. Yall's support is the only reason why I am writing another blog today, because I promise if y'all had embarrassed me, I would have just let this idea go LOL... ok probably not still... thank you and please keep showing me love!
So here we are - the First Friday for the month of April 2017 - and a new blog for Ardnek's First Friday Feature. This month's blog is titled "Spring Clean your way towards to a Successful Life." The season of Spring kicked off a few weeks ago, March 20th to be exact... and what goes with spring time??? SPRING CLEANING!!! Spring cleaning can mean different things to different people but the general definition is ... a thorough cleaning of the house in the spring. Winter is now over, it's a new season, time to declutter everything and start fresh as warmer, longer, sunnier days have arrived. While it is good to do a good cleaning of the house, our lives can definitely use a good "spring cleaning" as well. Sometimes we need to let go of some people, ideologies, and various other things that are hindering us from having a successful life... and isn't that the ultimate goal.. to have a successful life. So this month, here are a few things you can do to spring clean your life and move towards a successful one. Enjoy!
1. Clean up Relationships
Take a minute and scroll through the contact list in your phone. Is everybody in your phone contributing to your life in a positive way? If not, delete those who are not. Is there anybody in your phone that you need to repair a relationship with? If so, text or call them. Too many people cling to dead relationships in various areas, thinking that more is better... 500 contacts in your phone, 1700 friends on FB... but if these relationships are no longer providing positivity or make you feel good, it's time to let them go.
2. Revamp your Diet
Without even realizing it, we can fall into a dietary humdrum... you know Macaroni Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wing Wednesday... and the list goes on. Now while the convenience of having the same meal on the same day every week is great, studies show that these people are not as happy at dinnertime and find less enjoyment of meals. Take a break from the lunch and dinner monotony, and spruce up your home dining experience. Experiment with foods you have never tried... try an interesting new recipe... Pinterest is full of them. Liven up your culinary palette...and enjoy meal time.
3. Mind Dump
Experts estimate that on average, a person has about 50,000 thoughts a day. With that many thoughts a day, it's incredible that we ever accomplish anything because our minds are consistently going. Unfortunately many of these thoughts tend to be negative and if they are lingering in your head, they are not adding value to your day or life. Take some time to clear the thoughts that your mind is harboring, especially ones tied to emotions, such as anger, hurt, and revenge. These thoughts are detrimental to not only your life and health, but also your success. Susan Taylor said it best..."You can make your world or break it by your own thoughts." Make sure you mind dump any negativity and refresh your thoughts with positivity, motivation, and inspiration to be the best you.
4. Fix your Finances
So if we are cleaning up our minds, bodies, and relationships... we can't leave out our finances. I know, i know... nobody REALLY wants to clean up their finances, but not knowing where your money is truly going can add additional stress and worry to your life. Plus long term success in the future can only be achieved with financial awareness. How much do you spend on fast food and take out each week? Are you truly paying off your credit cards or has the balance been the same for 3 years while you just make the minimum payment? Review your spending and see what are the needs vs wants. Create a plan to remove or at least cut down on items that you really don't need to splurge on. Put all of the money that you save in a place and then a few months down the line... take that money and use it for something worthwhile... pay off a credit card, give to charity, whatever suits you... but trust me the feeling of accomplishment will be worth it.
5. Evaluate your Time
Time is consistency moving and waits for no one. Once time is gone, you can never get it back; therefore are you spending time on things that are adding value to your life or are you wasting time on trivial things? Yes, it's good to troll social media, but for 5-6 hours a day... is that too much? What things could you be doing with some of that time to move your life to the next phase? Take a good look at how you are spending your time and determine is it on things worth spending on it. Once you have an understanding of your time and its management, identify how you can maximize your hours on value adding activities.
Life moves quickly so let's actively try to make the most of every single day and live with a purpose. Hope these tips can help you Spring Clean your life :)
